McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
|
We have found time and
time again that McAfee products are superior to
Symantec and other anti-virus solution. Now we
are not speaking of the home versions of any of
the anti-virus products, we are relating to the
corporate/enterprise versions.
McAfee's 8.0i was a breakthrough for VirusScan.
With the addition of Access Protection which can
block known Trojan ports, harmful application
and such from launching. The Buffer Overflow
Protection which will stop those problematic
application that may cause a computer to crash
due to a buffer overflow of code has made
VirusScan 8.0i an incredible product. Not to
mention that McAfee's products catches and
disinfects more infections then any other
anti-virus application that we have seen.
Prior to the new release of 8.5i, which is Vista
compatible has an add-on anti-spyware plug-in
that can scan for those nasty cookies and
registry keys. Having a greater percentage of
catching, cleaning or removing an infection is
even better now.
Using ePO or Protection Pilot with VirusScan
makes it even easier and ensures that your
network computers/servers are protected. See

McAfee Management Software
|
McAfee has two
management application that comes with
particular packages of their anti-virus
software. One is called ePolicy Orchestrator or
ePO for short which has powerful built-in
Crystal Reports which enables administrators to
granularly review top ten infected machines,
spyware that maybe installed on a computer or
even how much *spam the organization receives
using graphs and other means of dispay. ePO has
the ability to manage multiple sites and
subnets. This management application can even
manage some versions of Symantec anti-virus.
The second management application is geared to
smaller organizations that need to have the
ability to review "what's going on?" with McAfee
products. Called Protection Pilot, this version
comes with built-in visual graphs that can not
be edited like ePO's reports.
Both ePO and Protection Pilot are great tools to
manage McAfee products without the hassle of
changing each individual users anti-virus
settings. The tools enable the administrator to
enforce, change settings, review and find out
who might be infected with just a few clicks of
the mouse.
